A Call Me Out Meme has been discovered!

Okay, yeah there's nothing special about this, it's just your standard CMO but your only choices are Dangans. I wanted to have some fun with it, execute me why don't you. ANYHOO, just put the character you want in the subject line and let's have some fun! Please don't feel like you're limited to dangans just because they're the only characters I feel like playing right now, as always I love me some cross canon interactions. Brackets, prose, former game universes...it's whatever floats your SHSL Party Boat here. Just put the character you want in the subject line, give me a scenario, and have at it! (just please nothing age-inappropriate for Nagisa because he's literally 10, thank you!)

Guess that is coming up pretty soon, isn't it? Can't believe they're growing up so fast...you'd think it'd take them a while or something since they're so big.

[Then again they are just big animals? Big lizards...how long does it take a lizard to grow up?]

[Nagisa pointedly ignores the comment about nobody wanting to watch Jataro work and instead squats down on the other side of the sand worm, looking pointedly at Jataro's hands as he starts smoothing the sand. Who cares if nobody else wants to? He does and he's going to, so there.]

One would have to stay out in the sun for a very, very long time for that to happen. Actually, if it's only a matter of hours, the opposite is true. Your skin will swell up if you get a really bad sunburn. But...eventually, yes: too much sunlight can make your skin wrinkle. [He folds his arms on top of his knees so that he can rest his head on them as he continues to watch from his squatting position. He's still clearly trying to avoid getting sand on anything other than his feet.]

Your skin wrinkles in water for a completely different reason, though. People have been studying the effect for years trying to figure out why it happens. All the evidence seems to point to it being an involuntary nervous system reaction. It causes the blood vessels in your hands and feet to constrict, which in turn causes your skin to wrinkle and fold.

[Because you wanted the actual explanation, right Jataro?]

I've already started trying to teach Kougetsuren, though I think I may have started a little to early, to tell the truth. The first couple of attempts were...

[Utterly pathetic. He's spared having to actually admit this however, having just entered the kitchen and caught sight of the dragons up on the counters.]

Oi! What do you two think you're doing, huh?

[They cook on those countertops? They are not a place for dirty dragon feet? Fuyuhiko rushes over and scoops them both put, putting them down on the ground.] You know better than to climb up there!

[Or, at least, Kougetsuren does. And the dragon looks properly ashamed of himself at his scion's stern look, ears and tail drooping once he's on the ground.]

[While he continues to work, he does glance up every now and then while Nagisa explains.]

[He doesn't really sound like he fully 100% gets it. But it seems to satisfy his curiosity enough.]

You sure know a lot Shingetsu-kun. You always have an answer when I have a question...you're kind of like a magic-8 ball! Except I don't think I'm strong enough to pick you up and shake you.

[However, he is indeed very short. And very light on top of it. A small boy, all around. So when the much taller girl gets to her feet and runs into him, she doesn't so much bump into him as she does nearly knock him over. He does manage to stay on his feet, but barely. He staggers sideways, taking a moment to regain his balance and not even stopping to think about the word he just heard and the significance it has. The whole soulmate thing has never been on the top of his priority list. Either he'd run into this mystery "W-whoa!" person one day, or he wouldn't. It's not like he really gave a shit either way.]

[Once he's steady on his feet, the boy rounds on the girl, eyes blazing and hair seeming to stand on end. Poor Hajime. Of all the people she could have bumped into, it had to be some midget with anger issues.]

Watch it, dumbass!

[A yakuza. A yakuza will apparently call someone a dumbass on their first meeting. Not that that fact is exactly obvious at the moment, but that accent of his...]

[Natsumi would love to express some interest in what he "caught" so far, because she's sure that sentence was probably going to indicate that the answer is a big 0, leaving her proud of herself for not sending Eibitsuki out to hunt just yet, but oh dear. They're causing trouble.

Eibi doesn't look remotely ashamed. Not at first, anyway. She glances at her brother once on the ground, looking back up at Fuyuhiko...before drooping her ears and tail too. Only she's also curling up a little, keeping her eyes on the ground...

She's sooooo sorry............(probably.)

Natsumi doesn't say anything herself though, just watching the scene. Or observing, more like. She doesn't particularly mind it when her dragon joins her for cooking or snacking, but watching her brother scold them...huh. Maybe she shouldn't? Or maybe she should keep her on her shoulders during that instead of on the counters...or something.]

[Fashionable for an old-folks home, maybe.

In other circumstances, she might have laughed awkwardly at almost knocking someone over. Normally she's not so clumsy as all that; for an instant, she thinks maybe she should just make a joke about how short the other boy is to relieve the embarrassment of almost knocking him over.

Any of her normal quips or apologies are cut off in a kind of muffled squeak at what he says. No, no, that can't be right... there's no way his tattoo matches, right?]

N-no way... [she says, holding both hands up and taking a step back, trying not to panic. This guy sounds like yakuza, and he's Main Course, and-- shit! She could actually die!!]

What... did you say?

...let's just assume you're not strong enough for such a feat and move on. [Please don't try and pick him up and shake him. That's...he's okay with that not happening.] Though, I would like to think my answers are more helpful and less vague than those of a magic-8 ball...

[If it were anyone other than Jataro, he might have taken that as an insult. But since it's Jataro, Nagisa knows he doesn't mean it offensively. It's just...Jataro being the lovable little weirdo that he is.]

I bet you'll scare some of them. Like Big Sis Mikan and Big Sis Ibuki. [Because the latter is kind of an idiot and Nagisa can definitely see her thinking this is a real snake. And the former, well...what DOESN'T scare Big Sis Mikan?] It's gonna take way more than a sand snake to scare the likes of Big Sis Peko though...

Oh yeah, your answers are always great. Though...they can be a lot more confusing sometimes than a magic-8 ball. A magic-8 ball just says yes or no or maybe...those are a lot easier to understand.

[Sorry Nagisa. No offense, but nobody is as smart as you are.]

I don't think Big Sis Peko is scared of anything. She's kind of like a robot, you know? Not scared of anything like a robot...doesn't have any emotions like a robot...her eyes are even red! I wonder if she's here to try and take over...I read a comic once where humans used robots for everything, and this one got tired of it and started a rebellion and enslaved all the humans. And then the humans were the ones who had to do everything!

[Even as he says this, he doesn't seem too scared of the idea that Peko may or may not be that kind of robot.]

Do you think she'd turn us into robots? Like...maybe she turned all of her friends into robots already and really we're sailing around with a robot ship crew!

[Okay...the head is looking much more snake-like now. Just needs a few details here and there and then he can start making the mouth and those sharp teeth!]

That seems...highly unlikely. [Jataro, what the hell...] I think she's just a very guarded person, emotionally. Honestly, I am surprised that the Remnants are lead by Big Bro Hajime when there's someone as dignified and reserved as Big Sis Peko around...

[She is the ideal leader he still doesn't understand why this is not the case. Maybe Hajime won rock-paper-scissors, just like Masaru did back when they were deciding who would lead the Warriors of Hope...]

[He shakes his head a little.]

In any event, I am certain that they are all completely human. Or, well...with one minor exception. [He grimaces a little.] Our former servant. You know, with that hand he has now. We cannot truly consider him "completely" human anymore, an we? He's definitely a cyborg now, at least on a very minor scale...

Maybe he won rock-paper-scissors? [Jataro's thinking like you are! At least a little.] Maybe you should ask Big Sis Peko and see what she says. I don't have any idea why he leads instead of her. Or instead of anyone else. Big Sis Sonia is a princess...Big Bro Fuyuhiko is a yakuza...wouldn't they be good leaders?

If he's not human anymore, maybe he really should be a servant. That's what robots are. But...I don't think I'd want him leading any kind of rebellion against humans...so maybe not.

Maybe. Though, with regards to Big Sis Sonia: most monarchs are primarily figureheads in modern society. I don't know how it works in Novoselic, but that might be why she hasn't taken such a role among her classmates. Or maybe she thinks she doesn't have a right to do so, since this isn't her homeland and they aren't her subjects. And I am not certain you can call a yakuza a "good" leader...

[Though, he guesses technically that's better than nothing? Seriously, why is Hajime the leader. He just doesn't get it.]

Only his hand is robotic, Jataro. The rest of him is organic, therefore it is more accurate to consider him a cyborg. But, either way you're right. He'll take any opportunity he can to mess things up, and I wouldn't want him leading any kind of rebellion either.

They'd still be better...

[He likes Hajime and all but compared to Nagisa or Masaru...well that's not really a fair comparison. Of course Nagisa and Masaru are both better leaders. They're kids. But still! He's not gonna question it though, not to their faces anyway. Ultimately his loyalties technically lie with his fellow kids after all. If they want to do what the Remnants and Hajime want, he'll do it too. If they want to do something else, he'll support them. Who the Remnants decide on as a leader doesn't really concern him.

He probably shouldn't lead anything at all. He wasn't very good at anything...

Now, that's a little harsh, don't you think Jataro? There were a few things he was very good at. I believe few could match his talent for being a backstabbing, interfering liar, for instance.

[It's a pretty reasonable response to almost being bowled over, he's pretty sure? He's not sure why she's so confused about this. These reserve course kids...they really are dumb, aren't they? Gotta spell everything out for them...]

[More of a reason not to let him do anything. Jataro moves to start shaping a long, thing lump of sand out in front of the snake head. The start of a tongue. There are light lines in the sand where teeth will be, but he wants to get the tongue in there before he starts to really flesh out the rest of the mouth.]

[Yes, Natsumi, your dragon definitely belongs on your shoulders when you're cooking. Or on a towel, f you really want to put her on the counter. What the hell. You wouldn't let a dog or a cat up on the counter while you were cooking, would you???]

[Fuyuhiko continues to look sternly at the dragons for another minute or so, arms folded on his chest. But...dammit, he just can't stay mad at these little guys. They're too cute...]

[So, eventually, he sighs and leans back down, holding an arm out to each dragon so they can scamper up onto his shoulders if they want.]

Alright, come on then. If you stay put, you can watch from my shoulders, got it? No jumping down or digging in with your claws, otherwise you'll have vegetables for lunch instead of fish.

[Kougetsuren grimaces at the mention of vegetables, giving a disgusted little noise. Ewwww. Gross. Veggies! After expressing his displeasure, he winds his way up his scion's arm to perch himself on Fuyuhiko's right shoulder. Fish, fish, fish!!!]

[Okay first of all dogs are either too big or too uncoordinated to be up on the counters. Cats, on the other hand...she might let one of them up there. They're a little more graceful than dogs. No offense to dogs of course, she loves them, but let's be real here.

She watches as her dragon follows the little white one's example, winding up his other arm in excitement. There wasn't any distasteful sound about veggies, and once she's on his shoulder she's rubbing her nose and cheek against Fuyuhiko's face. She loves you! She knew you couldn't stay mad at her. Fish, fish, fish!!!!]

On your shoulders, huh?

[You're a real softy, aren't you bro? Here she thought you might make her take them out of the kitchen but look at you. Though doesn't that make it a little difficult to cook?]

[Nagisa scowls down at the snake, not really seeing it. He's not mad at the snake, after all. It's done him no wrong. But this conversation has gone in a direction he doesn't much care for. It's digging up some painful memories. His hands clench into fists atop his knees.]

He's seriously the worst...

[If only he'd realized Nagito was onboard before agreeing to go with the Remnants he...probably would have made the same decision. As much as he can't stand Nagito, it's a lot safer on the ship than it was in Towa...]

[...hm. Nagisa seems like he's getting pretty upset...what could he say to make him feel better?? He's tempted to suggest some great torturing ideas for their "servant". He could come up with some really awful things that Nagito really probably deserves, after all! ...but...]

Hey Shingetsu-kun, d'you know what kinda snake I'm making?

[Changing the subject is probably better. As much as talking about being really cruel to Nagito would probably help, he doesn't want to get a stern talking to if any of the Remnants walked by and heard him or something. Blech.

But the snake in question, while it doesn't have a mouth yet, has a pretty distinct face. Those depressions in the nose definitely make it look like a python (if the general shape didn't already do that.)]

[Good choice, Jataro. While Nagisa would definitely jump right onto nasty torture talk bout Nagito, it wouldn't really help. It would just get him more worked up and angry. Changing the subject provides a good distraction.]

Huh? Uhm... [He scoots over a little and leans in to get a closer look.]

Some...kind of python? A ball python?

[The ones with the weirdly cute faces...]

Wow, you can even tell something like that? You know everything!

[He nods though, finally finishing off that forked tongue. Look at it, ready to give you some kisses. Now to really flesh out those teeth.]

Ball pythons are really cool. They have like three noses instead of just one! Or I guess they aren't really noses, since they're just uh...heat sensors?

[Cool. Kinda gross, because they're just big holes in its face, but that's what makes it cool.]

[He looks a little sheepish as he moves back into his original position.]

Not everything...they just have very distinct faces. [He shifts a little, digging his toes in the sand.] It's a very good re-creation.

[Jataro's skill is the more impressive thing here, really. Nagisa smiles a little and nods.]

Yeah, heat sensors. They track their prey by following their infrared thermal radiation.

[He repeats that slowly as he works on one of the long snake fangs, clearly thinking about it. Or about something, at least.]

I bet you coulda guessed it if I'd made a different snake too. Though I don't know a lot of snakes, so I guess if we made a game out of it it wouldn't be much fun. [Now if you asked him to do a guessing game of making bugs out of sand that'd be different. He knows lots of those.] It'd probably just be boring, like everything else I do...

[Not that he seems too upset by this idea.]

[Nagisa lapses back into silence, watching Jataro work. After a minute or so, he speaks up.]

Well what if instead of snakes...you made bugs? You know more bugs than you do snakes, right? I don't think that would be a boring game.
